Newsletter No. 28
Hi *|FNAME|*,
Welcome to our October 2020 newsletter. We hope you are keeping safe and well. The following news items have been posted on our website recently and we would like to bring them to your attention here:
A Circle of Lights
Staveley
This Christmas, organisations in Staveley are working together to create a Circle of Light around the village to celebrate the community spirit, support and friendships which have sustained us during the pandemic.
Please join in and help make this happen by decorating your front hedge/fence with fairy lights and meet up with your neighbours’ where possible. The School, Village Hall, All Saints Church and the Parish Council will be helping to complete the circle in the public areas. You could also help by becoming a Christmas ‘buddy’ if you have spare lights to loan or could help neighbours with their decorations.
As social distancing is likely still to be in place, this collective effort should ensure that front gardens become the grandstand seats for your ‘Bubble’ . The church bell will ring at 6pm each evening to invite participation in:-
The Big Switch on of Lights at 6pm on 13th December
The Arrival of Father Christmas at 6pm on 21st December
‘Ring and Sing’ Carol singing in front gardens at 6pm on 21st -24th December
Christmas tree and Quiz competitions. 13th December onwards
Father Christmas will travel to each corner of the village in his ‘Santamobile” after which he will collect children’s ‘Dear Santa’ letters and entries for the Quiz from the special letter box at the Village Hall.
Copgrove
This Christmas, Copgrove residents will be working together to create a Circle of Light around the village to celebrate the community spirit, support and friendships which have sustained us during the pandemic.
Please join in and help make this happen by decorating your front hedge/fence with fairy lights and meet up with your neighbours’ where possible. You could also help by becoming a Christmas ‘buddy’ if you have spare lights to loan or could help neighbours with their decorations.
As social distancing is likely still to be in place, this collective effort should ensure that front gardens become the grandstand seats for your ‘Bubble’ to participate in the Carol singing and the other Christmas events in our village, further details will be announced in next months newsletter
Jubilee Recreation Field
The work to clear the dead wood and weeds from a large section of the hedge will be undertaken shortly. Once the work is complete the perimeter of the play field will look rather bare in parts and the very sad looking fencing will be on show. Ideally we hope we do not need to spend money on replacing the fence given it will only be on show during the time it takes for the new hedge to grow, so please don’t worry about it appearing a little scruffy for a while, this is a long term plan to improve both the appearance of the play area and the opportunities for wildlife.
Planting of the replacement hedging will be undertaken by volunteers on 21st and 22nd November, if you can help please let Helen North know by email helen.north@staveleyandcopgrovepc.org.uk.
There have been a number of reports of people parking too close to junctions and therefore restricting visibility for other road users, and causing obstruction to buses and other large vehicles. Please can you consider this when parking on the road.
