Hi *|FNAME|*,

A few quick updates from the Parish Council:

Changes in the Parish Council Personnel

Following the recent resignation of Councillor Claire Dennis and the subsequent 21 day Notice of Vacancy, we are pleased to welcome Graham Bowland of Corner Croft, Main Street, Staveley to the Parish Council as a co-opted member for Staveley.

The Parish Council has also said goodbye to its Clerk, Kathy Haw, who has been with us since 2016. We thank her for her valued input over these three years and wish her well in her future ventures.

The vacant position of Clerk to the Council has now been taken up by Neil Horton, who has stood down as a Councillor to carry out the Clerk’s duties. This means that there is again a Councillor vacancy and a formal Notice of Vacancy is displayed below.

Notice of Councillor Vacancy

The Parish Council has another vacancy for a new Councillor.  The formal Notice of Vacancy can be seen below.

Planning Application Update – Land Comprising OS Field 7845, Arkendale Road, Staveley

The planning application from Harmby Homes Ltd. for the erection of two detached houses and two detached bungalows with car ports (Revised Scheme) has been permitted by Harrogate Borough Council, subject to a number of conditions.  The Notice of Decision, which details the conditions, can be seen here.

A subsequent planning application for “Approval of details required under conditions 5 (RPA Fencing), 7 (great crested newts) and 8 (ecological and landscaping) of planning permission 18/00027/FUL” has been submitted.  Details of this application can be seen here.

Planning Application Update – Land to the east of St Mongah’s Court, Copgrove

The planning Application from Yorvik Homes Ltd. for the erection of 26 dwellings, open space and associated infrastructure on land to the east of St Mongah’s Court, Copgrove has been refused by Harrogate Borough Council. The reasons given for refusal are:

  • The proposed development by reason of its location beyond the development limit for Copgrove set out in the emerging Harrogate District Local Plan and scale will result in a significant and harmful expansion of the village into the surrounding rural landscape out of character with the existing extent of the village contrary to Policy EQ2 of the Harrogate District Core Strategy and Policy C2 of the Harrogate District Local Plan.
  • The vehicle parking arrangements fail to provide for an acceptable mixed and balanced community contrary to the terms of National Planning Policy Framework.
  • No evidence has been provided to demonstrate that the proposed development would not adversely affect archaeological remains on the site contrary to the terms of the National Planning Policy Framework.
  • No provision has been made to address the open space and village hall requirements raised by the development contrary to Policy C1 of the Harrogate District Core Strategy.

The Notice of Decision and all other documents relating to this planning application are available here.
