A few quick updates from the Parish Council:

Waste and Recycling Collections

This is a reminder that there will be no household waste, recycling and garden waste collections on Monday 26 August 2019. Your usual collection day will be one day later than normal next week. Normal collections will resume on Monday 2 September 2019.

You can check your waste, recycling and garden waste collection days anytime at www.harrogate.gov.uk/inmyarea.


Something to Celebrate!

Earlier this year the Parish Council (PC) applied to the Allerton Waste Recovery Park (AWRP) Landscape & Cultural Heritage Fund for a grant to undertake works to improve various Staveley village assets. Copgrove is unfortunately outside the grant area. We are pleased to announce that our application for the following has been approved.

The Local Lotto

The Local Lotto for the Harrogate District has issued its August update …

Who will be our 1000th Supporter?

We are looking out for the 1000th supporter to sign up to THE LOCAL LOTTO. Harrogate Town Football Club have kindly given us 2 adult and 2 junior tickets to a home game in the new season as an extra special prize. Please help promote this opportunity. Warm and Well Event

Do you have contact with vulnerable people who would benefit from advice about how to keep warm and well in winter? Or would you like to know more about the Warm & Well service?

‘My Neighbourhood’ are working with ‘Warm & Well ‘and have organised two free partnership events. The purpose of the event is to inform organisations and individuals who work or have contact with vulnerable groups about how Warm & Well in North Yorkshire can support them, provide information about how to refer into the service and coordinate any winter health work being delivered across the county. This event will be delivered in Partnership with Harrogate Borough Council My Neighbourhood and North Yorkshire County Council.

Fly-tipping

It has been brought to the attention of the Parish Council that some residents have been fly tipping their garden waste around the area of the Pinfold. In addition to this being illegal and detrimental to the appearance of the area, it may have recently caused a small fire. A review will be undertaken prior to the next Parish Council meeting and if there is evidence of further fly tipping action will be taken to report it to the correct authorities, together with the identity of anyone seen committing the offence.

CBA Yorkshire – Selby Workshop

The Council has been contacted by the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) in Yorkshire regarding the forthcoming Selby Workshop on starting, reactivating and resourcing a local history group, hosted by the CBA on the 21st September 2019. The keynote speaker will be Professor Carenza Lewis who many will have watched over many years on Channel 4’s ground breaking TIMETEAM.

Harrogate Borough Council 2020-2021 Budget Consultation

Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) have launched the consultation for the 2020-2021 Budget and would like to hear residents views with regards to the services which matter to them. Whilst demand for services continues to increase, pressure on funding means the money that HBC have to pay for these services is reducing.

Local Plan Main Modifications Consultation – Staveley

The Main Modifications (MM) consultation process for the Harrogate District Local Plan (Publication Draft) has now opened and continues until 20th September 2019. The MM document is now available for viewing and comment here.

If you are unable or do not wish to submit your comments via the online portal, comment forms are also available to collect from council offices and the district’s libraries to complete and return to Harrogate Borough Council at: Planning Policy, Planning and Development, P.O. Box 787, Harrogate, HG1 9RW. If you have a neighbour or know of someone who cannot access the online portal and who wants to comment on the MM, please pass the above information on to them.

Under section 3 of the document Changes to Site Details – Policies DM1, DM2 and DM3, section DM1:Housing Allocations, MM123 refers to site SV1 : Land between Minskip Road and Low Field Lane, Staveley.

UCI Road World Championships

The organisers of September’s UCI Road World Championships have published their residents’ guide on their website. It’s packed with information about the race timings, the use of the Harrogate ‘inner circuit’ and how the event may impact you. Also keep an eye out for a spectator guide that will be published soon. This will contain more detail about the cycling itself and the host of other events taking place during the Championships.

The event runs from 21st to 29th September 2019. You can find further information about how the event may affect you and download the Harrogate Residents Guide here.
