Hi *|FNAME|*,
A few quick updates from the Parish Council:
Neighbourhood Plan Development Deferred
At its meeting on Wednesday 29th May 2019, the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group decided to defer the Plan development until the Local Plan is adopted, hopefully by the end of this year. The decision was taken because there are currently three ongoing housing development issues within the parish which makes the current investigation and development of any housing policy for the Neighbourhood Plan near impossible.

Vehicle Activated Signs
North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) have recently extended their Temporary Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) protocol. This means that, under certain conditions, NYCC will support local communities like ours who wish to purchase and maintain their own speed sign.
Whilst the VAS protocol is not a substitute for the 95Alive protocol (Community Speed Watch), it does offer villages like Staveley the opportunity to operate their own advisory speed signage on a temporary/rotating basis. There would be both capital and ongoing costs as well as the need for a volunteer group to maintain and rotate (move between locations) the sign.
The Parish Council would like to know if there would be sufficient community support for a VAS project.
UCI Cycle Race Community Grants
The UCI bike race comes to the Harrogate district in September 2019. To celebrate the event a fund has been created at Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) to award small grants between £200 – £3,000 to projects across the district which will celebrate the UCI races. There is £40,000 available in this grant funding pot.
If you have an idea for a project that will meet the eligibility criteria set out below, please let the Parish Council know. One of the races passes through Copgrove.

Harrogate Congestion Study
A 12-week public survey into the impact of congestion in Harrogate and Knaresborough and measures that could be taken to tackle the issue began on Monday, 15 April 2019. Everyone who lives, works or travels in the towns is being urged to have their say in the survey.
The Parish Council asks if you would take a few minutes to have a look at the NYCC consultation, read the background documentation and complete the questionnaire. Of particular importance is the option to include a new relief road cutting through some of the most beautiful parts of the Nidd Gorge and neighbouring countryside. Please consider objecting to this option and supporting the sustainable transport measures.

Public Meeting re Site SV2
The Parish Council (PC) held a public meeting in the village hall on Wednesday 15th May 2019 to discuss the proposal to build 13 dwellings on land off Main Street, Staveley. The purpose of the meeting was to enable residents to express their views on the proposal and for the PC to gain a better understanding of the level of support and opposition for the development.
About 10% of the registered electorate for the village (just under 40 residents) attended. Also in attendance was Councillor Zoe Metcalfe, the Harrogate Borough Council (HBC) ward councillor for the parish.
