To get the plan development under way, the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group (NPSG) invited views from the community on the following:
- Valued attributes of the area – what are the things that you like about our area and the reasons why you enjoy living here; what do we need to conserve?
- Concerns for the area – the issues that concern you most about living in the area, whether it be any aspect of transport, the environment, housing, jobs etc. ,
- Visions of the future – How you would like our area to look like in 10 to 15 years time; how you would like any of your concerns to have been addressed.
A simple on-line form was made available, along with a paper form was distributed to each household and business in the parish at the start of February 2019 and in the village hall for community groups. All responses were anonymous. This initial phase of consultation closed on 31st March 2019.
The raw data results from completion of the paper-based and on-line forms are available here. The data has been collated as it arrives into emerging attributes, issues and visions. From each of these three datasets, a summary set of emerging themes has been derived.
The emerging themes were expanded into a set of objectives that reflected the attributes, issues and visions expressed. A possible delivery method was identified for each theme. At this stage the delivery method options were:
- Neighbourhood Plan
- Design Statement
- Community Action Plan
Some theme objectives may be achieved by more than one delivery method.
Following this initial consultation exercise, the NPSG will prepare a household survey that will establish the degree of support within the community for each of the valued attributes, concerns and visions for the future that have been put forward. The results of the houshold survey will then provide a prioritised basis for the development of plan policies.
