Staveley Traffic Survey Results

Following the decision at the last Parish Council meeting (minute 8.5), a traffic survey was recently commissioned from North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) for Main Street and Arkendale Road Staveley. The survey took place at the two sites for a period of seven days from 13th to 19th September 2019, using traffic counting cables.

The survey results are now available and can be seen in full here (Main Street) and here (Arkendale Road). A summary of the directional results for each of the seven days is available here.

As can be seen from the results, approximately half of the speed readings are within the designated limit of 30mph and one third are above the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) guidlines for enforcement at 32 mph and over. Around 5% of readings are in excess of 40mph.

The purpose of the surveys was to better inform any decision with regard to the purchase and installation of vehicle activated signs at these locations. We now have actual current data, rather than just anecdotal reports, on these two locations. NYCC have already undertaken a survey on Minskip Road. The Parish Council is currently analysing the survey results and will be discussing the issue further at its next meeting.
